Unfortunately I lost my semi final 3-1 yesterday. I do not think I played badly, but certainly also not my best. Daniel was hitting some good shots, and I think I made a lot of errors myself. The fact that he could play his shots also say my basic game was not good enough.
Today was the first day at the Russian Open here in Moscow where if all went to plan I had to play two matches. First match was against the Wildcard, and I won quite comfortable 3-0. Second match was against the #7 seed Yuri Farneti.
Sad to have lost my chance to retain my title yesterday. I was simply not good enough to compete with Piëdro, who won 3-0. Allthough I felt relaxed on court, I also felt I was not dominant and a little all over the place shot selection wise.
Happy to win my quarter final against Bart Ravelli. Final score was 3-2, it was close, I think I made a few to many errors in certain stages of the match, which got me in a position to battle out a fifth game.
Tonight I played my first round match in de Cloud66 Nationals and won 3-0. Happy to play quite a solid first round, really feels like I am in the tournament now.
The schedule for the nationals has been published. This year I am seeded 3/4, my first match will be played on Thursday evening at 8:10PM at Frans Otten Stadion in Amsterdam.
In a few weeks I am going to defend my title at the Dutch Nationals.
After four weeks of touring, I am now back home.
After winning my first two rounds I am playing my semi final this afternoon here in Minneapolis.
